Holly Hallstrom v. Bob Barker: Case Closed

This case had been in the courts for years. Former the Price is Right hostess Holly Hallstrom sued the "beloved" Bob Barker on the grounds of an unfair dismissal among other things. For those who are queasy, perhaps it might be best to turn away. We're going to tell the truth on Bob. Well, Holly claims that Bob hasselled her about her weight gain. In fact in 1995, he was cracking wise on Miss Hallstrom. In the archival footage we can see Bob filled with rage. If he thought he was going to escape from justice, he had ten another thinks coming.

Here's the deal, Hallstrom was of the more popular Barker Beauties. She was the hot redhead of the classic lineup that also featured Dian Parkinson and Janice Pennington. Anyway Holly was relieved of her duties by 1995 after 18 years. Where's about Bob? Still doing dirt. He was sued by Parkinson too as well as many other folks, here's what some of have to say about him...

"Barker is probably the most vicious man I've met in my life,"

'My God, what a monster.'"

"He's a slippery devil,"

We're talking to you, Bob Barker. The good news? According to her recent interview with a regrettably sober Pat O' Brien, Hallstrom won her case. The total was between 5 and 10 million dollars. That's fantastic. Bob is still wasting time on his horrible show. Bob Barker can run, he can hide, he can run some more and hide again if he likes, but we're all sickened by him.

I wonder, as he continues to lose money in court, if the showcase showdown items will be reduced to laundry detergent, S.O.S. pads, and hand towels.

The guy is a phony. It's one thing to have one complaint from one person, but when you start seeing this across the board, it's a pattern of behavior, and the network should get involved.

Heh heh, yeah seems like Bob's settlements are adding up. Frankly some of the charges were shocking. His excuses are always so smug and belitting. That deal with Hallstrom was multi-layered and went on for years

You know, Bob Barker is a phony. If he wasn't so inexplicably popular, they'd surely replace him...

You have no idea how tempted I was to write a "The Price is Wrong, bitch" response, but luckily it passed.

I see, I see LOL.

You know when you think about it, I wouldn't mind being the blog of record that mercilessly chastises Bob Barker. Hey, sounds like a plan :)

I suggest going to www.bobbarker.com. It looks as if he is preparing himself for a lengthy stay.

I have to say I'd love to see Bob Barker in one of those prison vans.

Give us back the days of "The Price is Right" from New York with someone like the always-classy Bill Cullen at the helm. Not the whiff of sleaze on that show. Bob Barker always gives us the attitude of "Welcome to MY show. I'M the STAR of MY SHOW." Bill Cullen was never the "star." He was always "your host." "The Price is Right" was a game and a party, and the late Mr. Cullen made everyone welcome in the fun.

The same can be said for Tom Kennedy and the late Dennis James, who hosted the syndicated nighttime versions of the current "Price." Mr. Kennedy was always critical of the job he did. Well, he couldn't be farther from the truth. Both were far superior over Barker. They were never visibly condescending and I have no doubt about that off-camera as well. If there had still been only three major networks and a handful of television stations when competition was fierce and the slightest ratings drop meant "the end", this "Price" would have been gone as soon as Mark Goodson died and all the Fremantle B.S. began.

Holly Hallstrom, you are classy, charming and fun, and you have a great inner beauty that always shows. We hope to see you again soon because just by being yourself, you brighten peoples' days. "Price" has gotten a lot cheaper in the last few years (not in prizes, but where it counts) and you are more valuable than it can ever be.

Thanks for writing that Bob, that was very interesting. I've got to agree, I think being a host of a show is a lost art. I never did consider Bob Barker one of the better ones, he overwhelms the whole deal. I certainly remember the guys you mentioned--and hopefully someone like that will replace Bob Barker...

I also agree with what you said about Holly Hallstrom, charming is a perfect adjective. I also caught some of her appearances on "Match Game" she's always fun to watch.

If Mark Goodson was still alive hearing all these lawsuits on Bob, he would have fired him point-blank because it would have caused a ripple effect on the other shows that he produces that Mark couldn't afford to lose but since they reduced the number of shows down they had to support the prick, he did that with Richard Dawson.

Bob cares more about animal rights than the humans he works for on the show, and that is a shame. On the person who may replace him, I doubt that they'll find a "host" because the media has gotten so loud and egotistical that it's scary.

This is why Holly was my favorite
she has this humbleness about her that is very sexy. But when you put her back against the wall she'll go start swinging. Janice was a close second before I read in Holly's deposition that Janice helped Bob tell the tabloids on Dian's romances which lead to them dropping the case.

Just to think looking at episodes in the 94-95 season, yes she did gain weight but it was in her chest, it was noticably bigger than usual, almost Dian like, because Holly was always slender but not full chested.

Anyways, tell me how that Bob Barker haters blog is going. I want to write a fan letter/card that says: "Hi Bob, a big fan of you and the show. I was wondering, How's Dian doing?"

You know Deric, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Bob wouldn't have been canned for what he's bringing to the table: Not a whole lot. I caught the show a couple of days back and its awful.

Another thing that's so striking is the fact that the Barker beauties really haven't been interesting since Holly hasn't been on the show. Holly's very sexy--her weight gain didn't matter to me. She looks like she's a lot of fun and plus, she's a "real" person--I liked her the best out of all of them...

You know, I wish I could have started that Bob Barker's haters blog, but my hatred is just too intense! J/K. I'd love to see Bob's face if someone mentioned Dian or Holly LOL.

Yeah, the models or stick figures with rubber tits have no personality whatsoever. They can barely model things with any kind of beauty or grace, just cold and lifeless, kind of like Bob and the producers.

Yeah I remember when I read that Holly got canned, I didn't watch the show for 5 years and right when I watched it again out of boredom, they canned Janice and Kathleen.

Someone should wear a t-shirt to the show that says "The Price is Wrong, Bitch!"

The Price is Wrong. I checked the show out a few days ago and I saw a model just stand there looking crazy, it was weird especially seeing Holly have fun via clips from You Tube. That was nice, she was so sexy on there.

I totally stopped watching the show when Holly got canned. I think the lack of really interesting models, Bob's Big Ego and the fact that production values haven't changed is a bit much...

What Does It Matter Anyways? said...

My sister in law was on The Price Is Right and told us a story about bob's roaming hands, and on the video tape you can actually see his right hand moving to her fanny while he tries to 'lead' her to the Plinko game.

Bob was trying to be helpful--helping himself--as usual :)

Bob is able to see and converse with dead people! Yes, it's true! After Mr. Barker suffered a minor stroke in 2008 and momentarily "died," he had a true near death experience. Mr. Barker spoke of not seeing any divine lights or seeing a passed loved ones, but he did hear a musical prize cue that was first used on the first season of TPIR. Barker describes the wafting sounds of a flute, triangle and Moog synth playing in a loop. Moments later an EMF team revived Barker. Since having his NDE Barker has been having "visions" of former deceased TPIR contestants appearing to him at night. According to NDE and afterlife expert Dr. Raymond Moody Bob Barker experienced one of the more interesting and captivating NDE's. "I'm really impressed" said Dr. Moody. Bob Barker is going to co-host a new psychic program with legendary psychic James Van Praag coming September 14,2014 on TLC. Barker said in an interview that he had been a lifelong agnostic, but having had "seeing and hearing" the dead he now can put aside his skepticism.
