Jenna Wolfe Comes Out & Everyone Still Hates Matt Lauer

Jenna Wolfe- What was the line in that song, "If you don't know/Now you know..." Here's something for all of the geeks chitter chatting about Jenna Wolfe and her business. In a Today show appearance, it was Jenna Wolfe's time to entertain us/make us uncomfortable.

Since 2012, Jenna had been demoted to basically just the news person on the weekend Today show. She was the co-anchor for years (along with Amy Robach.) Any way, I saw Jenna on the couch with the regular Today show crew and I got so excited--until I heard some interesting news. Jenna Wolfe is pregnant. What else? Jenna Wolfe has a   girlfriend. When I heard the news I let out a wail and hid underneath my desk. The times are changing so fast. Why can't she find a man and be unhappy!

A picture from my private collection....

More Matt Lauer, again? People can't stop talking about this horrible man. Ever since the Today Show has taken a turn toward the dark acts, Matt Lauer is all but the mascot for NBC's downward fortunes. This fool has been in the news by way of a tawdry feature in the New Yorker magazine. Among the low lights? The fact that Matt really didn't like Ann Curry. Lauer also tried to get Katie Couric back on. When that didn't happen, he wanted to bolt to ABC and be with Katie on GMA. Thankfully all was avoided. Lauer has remained on NBC with his existential anger boaring a hole through our souls every morning.

Part 2: I hate him.

Now Matt knows how it feels.... Matt Lauer's contract lasts until 2014. Reportedly some say, he won't last that long. NBC has been reportedly interested in Anderson Cooper. Why I don't know. Cooper's own syndicated talk show has been cancelled and at this point, NBC would probably collapse under the weight of Lauer's self-serving goodbyes and Cooper's arrival. Also it looks like Ryan Seacrest was just signed to NBC to get Lauer mad like he's a teenager or something. Seacrest hasn't been seen on the Today Show set in a long time. But you know who has? Carson Daly. Carson Daly?  NBC has lost its damn mind...

Savannah Guthrie- I have to admit, I liked her spunk here, liked liked it. Here's what happened. The happy NBC family were outside doing the world's most boring demonstration of vacuum cleaners. Anyway, Savannah was trying to get one to work and Matt said, "This is the first time Savannah's ever used a vacuum cleaner." Savannah stormed off and did this. Ha, love it!

Of course NBC was all a twitter doing manage control and Guthrie had to get online and say, "Folks it was my INDEX finger." Sure it was. And really if it was her thumb, that facial expression isn't one of the most loving one I've ever seen.

Part 2: I want to see Savannah, Al Roker and Jenna Wolfe's baby attack Matt Lauer and lock him in a rundown cabin and press the button that says "TNT."

Amy Robach Leaves NBC and the Today Show

You know, I liked watching Amy Robach on the television. Robach and her weekend "Today" show host Lester Holt logged in a lot of hours together. I made it appointment TV to see Amy on Saturday, Sunday, whatever hell day she showed up on. Sadly I missed her announcement: She's leaving "Good Morning Beantown"  to take a job with ABC News.Traitor! Imagine Amy having the nerve enough to leave a sinking ship to save her journalistic career. She's so selfish.

At this point, I can't think of Amy Robach (of the Sears and Robach fortune) without thinking about Lester Holt. You know Holt got a shudder in his bones after hearing his work wife was going to back it in. To soften the blow, Amy took Lester to an old-timey McDonalds, you know, with Mayor McCheese statute out front? Reportedly Lester took the news like a big boy and then proceeded to choke on his Apple Pie as Amy drove away.

Thankfully Amy's departure wasn't a week long extravaganza. Amy announced her intention on her last show, Msy 19th 1975. Through the clips of her 9 years there we got to see how existentially boring charming she is and how time has wreaked havoc on Lester Holt's hairline. To be honest, I was a river of tears seeing Amy playing ping-pong, climbing into Mount St. Helens, and other mundane activities.. After the clips were played, Amy boo hooed, brought her kids on stage and tossed it to a break one last time. As for Lester, he should he used to this. He seen everyone from Bess Myerson to Campbell Brown out the door. Is he the reason they've all left? Is it his breath? Heh heh heh.

The Fallout: Minimal. While Holt seemed to like Robach better, I think Jenna Wolfe might be available on Saturdays. You know Jenna gets on everybody's nerves and it will be fun to see if she gets to torture us even more!

Meredith Vieira Leaves Today: A Recap

Oh hi. My staff gave me the horrible news that our friend Meredith Vieira has left Today. After alarming the flophouse with my sobs of agony, I decided to watch the episode show  that Today created to send Meredith off. I'm so sad....

After a reflective hour of clips and whatnot, they primed the pump by having Carole King sing "You've Got a Friend." Something from Tapestry really? That's made people feel nostalgic about two weeks after its release.I'm glad they didn't get James Taylor on there, that would have really made me shit a brick. Anyway, after a few drinks, Matt Lauer led Meredith to the piana and he pretended to play and led her to the street by a bunch of NBC employees. The song they used? America's new national anthem, "Don't Stop Believin'" from Journey (rolls eyes.) Ann Curry (who should have gotten the gig six years ago) seemed to have a particularly good time sending Mer off. From Miss Ann, we got Natalie Morales. Did you know Natalie was up for Vieira's vacated spot? I bet she's not going to stay on Today too long if a better offer presents itself.

The level of NBC staff on hand was staggering. Did you see Manimal? I did. Hoda and Kathie Lee  (from Regis and Kathie Lee) was there too. I was hoping they'd all fall down. Sadly Tom Brokaw couldn't join the proceedings. He was in a makeshift study preparing for an interview with Ronald Reagan (shh, don't tell him.) Near the end, my favorite gang, Jenna Wolfe, Amy Robach and Lester Holt even stopped by to lip-synch. And about Lester Holt, out there with no rhythm at all. Shameful! Abe Vigoda was there too. Goody....

Part 2: After the party was over, Katie, Matt, Al and Ann all told Meredith how great she was. They were crying and stuff yet I was unmoved. Me? I can cry on 35 year old commercials but for this? I did not care. I think it's because Meredith has done better work elsewhere and there's probably better work ahead for her.

From The Archives- Here's a pic of most of the NBC Today gang at my blog's 5th anniversary party.

Tiki Barber: Total Medal Idiot

Man, I was just assembling a list of my recent 8 track acquisitions I got "visiting" some houses up the road when this happened. Everyone knows about my crush on Jenna Wolfe and my hatred for Tiki Barber. Both emotions collided in one of the funniest clips ever. Everyone's talking about this! Did he say what I thought he said? A word even I don't say, here's a clip.

Woops a' daisy. The recap. It's been said NBC's Grammy, I mean, Olympic coverage has been a shambles. I haven't watched a minute but I did see that local moron talking about something close to nothing. Back to this, it's interesting. I see Young Jenna was being "annoying", sophomoric even. It was hilarious though. By the second clip I think Tiki's had his fill and uttered something or other. Notice how it kind of deflated the "party." Brian Williams was there for the clean up duty. The woman in the newsroom was talking about something or other, totally boring. I also noticed how everyone tried to fully enunciate "count", well except for Tiki...

Verdict: Although some folks on message boards have been saying things like "Bye Tiki" I don't think he's getting canned for this. For his incompetence? He should have been gone months ago, in fact I thought he was....
